I want to try something different. Suggest a topic and I’ll try to write a little something about it.
:)
near BenAshur in Tripoli Libya. This mosque has some of the most melodic voices in Tripoli. I’ve always wanted to know, but never had the chance to ask; were people born with their maqam on par?
Do you know what I think? I think only soothing vocals should call to prayer. If it’s not good, it shouldn’t be live.
work station looks obsolete. Most of the time my desk and desktop are empty. I can’t work if they’re busy. I admit they do become cluttered every once in a while, but I try to keep them organized. Why? Because it looks good.
The video you see was a test of the Canon 7D. Not bad for a first video huh? I use something (computer) else now, but that’s not the point.
I want to share with you this Tumblr here. If you need inspiration for your work space Minimal Desks should help. Oh and please don’t drag me into the Mac vs PC arguments. I shan’t be bothered.
Disclaimer: the music in the video is from a Bond movie. It’s not mine.
Enjoy.
the way people do in Europe (don’t know much about Europe), Canada or the States in Libya is to build castles in the air. If the line doesn’t make sense, learn to read my writing. Here on Tumblr I dictate my own grammar. I’m writing for no one really, so might as well experiment. :)
Anyway what I want to say is if you plan to visit or live in Libya and expect to have the same life style…sorry to break it to you, but it just doesn’t work like that. Unless your entertainment and pastimes are limited to motion pictures and a bunch of sit down nothings then prepare for a life of “I’m hella bored”.
In Libya you need your “out of the box” entertainment. It’s the only way to really enjoy the time you spend living there. That, or you can buy bootlegged films from the Dahra shops. There are a few theatre places here and there but…they suck (that’s all I’ll say).
Libya is a lot less like “civilized” countries. Some people like to say first world. Like we live in another? How does that work?
There are no high rise structures (oh actually we have two). We don’t have proper roads (maybe a few kms). It goes on and on. There is just so much we don’t have.
I’m thinking about it now. Maybe that’s the point? When you go to Libya you go to leave “civilization” behind you. I’m not saying you can’t enjoy yourself there. I believe that you can. You just can’t do it in a conventional manner.
I hope we Libyans learn to understand this. I pray we remove the perception that civilization is to carbon copy the West or the East.
What civilization is is another post.
isn’t exactly a spring. I wonder what they (who ever they are) were thinking when that term was coined. There is no experience of peace with the revolutions (in MENA). Although it (peace) becomes a means to the purpose of the revolutions, it carries no similitude to the mass physical and violent revolts we saw.
Unless, the term means a sudden jump. You know like a compressed coil once it’s let go… I don’t know. It’s got to be one of the worst naming experiences.
Enough about that. How about a fun fact? Did you know that Green is the most pleasing color to the eye! If you automatically think of Gaddafi then you’re just lame. A well established cameraman mentioned this to me. If you try to Google it you might get confused…so just trust me (or him) I guess. :)
nothing exciting (in the photos ^)….just things growing.
by the wellbeing of life is not something to abstain from or entirely avoid. It is something we must control. It is built into the psychology of the human construct. It is there. It is fact.
You either use it to reinforce the message or watch as it threatens to become the crux of your life.
Visit Jeejia because she is my love and she is fair (it’s her in the photos).
Freedom? By all means, but not ignorantly.
only as easy as putting out a fire… That is the point though. The fire is pivotal; people need to be tested. They must be sorted in perseverance of their will for unwavering expectoration and not mere endearment of a cause.
Is preference underpinned by belief? The answer is in the very manifestation of change. It is in the process.
A lot of people situate themselves with an idea, few actually live it fully. Situating in this case is hot air, association and the bit of ego. Belief is the sweat and blood arriving in every moment required.
If you think you believe in change and ride with selective basis then you are gulling yourself. An example in plain field; sacrificing for the greater good of society and leaving your close family unattended.
The family is but one example. How can you expect to put a fire out let alone endure it if you are subjective with your resolve (and belief)? Check your turf before moving to pick the weeds of others.
Learn this; to put the fire out, you must first endure it. To endure it, you must live your belief to its fullest.
Are you walking a road because people are walking it?
I trend deeply with this thought. Why am I here? What am I making? I always (or in the past at least) find that people are part with influencing my choices. It becomes perturbing for myself.
People affect you and there is nothing that can be done to avoid so. This is the dynamic of the human being. No articulation can avoid that.
People influencing what you listen, watch or read is one thing. You heading down a road because (someone is) or most people are; another altogether. It is a prodigious difference.
It comes as a strong necessity, to submit an undivided comprehensive focus on determining what the truth is. You might see many people in polar motion of you. It could be you or it could be them at fault.
Despite sharing something with the masses; you must question. You must think.
Know your purpose. Understand their reason.
The photo ain’t the greatest, I know. I haven’t shot anything for the longest time. Anything good that is. I have so many useless images…I don’t know what to do with them.
Anonymous asked: So what's the difference between someone who uses Ask fm (that you always criticize) and Tumblr's "Ask me" ?
I believe Tumblr’s “Ask Me” is there so that anyone can ask about my blog, ideas, tweets etc.. Somethings might not make sense and that’s why I have an ask box.
As for ask.fm that seems to get too personal a lot of the time. I see a lot of people using it and I don’t see any sense in it. It’s like asking me; why don’t you use Instagram? Well I use Flickr, 500px and Tumblr so I don’t need Instagram. For the record I never criticized ask.fm, I only said I won’t be using it.
